All sessions held in Room LRC-17 at the Greenspring Campus Library. Additional sessions at the Owings Mills campus are possible by request: contact a librarian to express your preference for date and session .

Getting to Know the SU Library for New Faculty

This session for new faculty at Stevenson University will focus on the library website as a gateway to services for faculty, including the SHARC Catalog, new and continuing subscription databases, the Journal Locater, Reserves and E-Reserves, SU collection requests, getting items from other libraries, from the MIC Courier to Inter-Library-Loan, and more. Research While You Sleep

You teach, commute, grade papers, prepare for classes, hold office hours, and maintain a personal life. Just when is it you’re supposed to keep up with new publications in your field? Reduce your stress by setting up customized searches that will run on their own and report their findings back to you. We’ll talk about setting up search alerts within research databases to keep you abreast of the latest publications on the specific topics you want. Results can be delivered by e-mail or RSS feeds. Collection Development for SU Faculty

SU Faculty have a million other things to do, but still care about making sure that students can use library resources that will enhance learning and extend it beyond the classroom. This workshop will demonstrate how painless a process requesting materials for the library collections can be, as well as introduce the new Library Contact Program that will make it even easier to ensure the library has what you and your students want and need to learn. Web 2.0 – Keeping Up

Social software tools like blogs, wikis and Facebook have quickly become prominent in the lives of students for connecting, collaborating, and sharing information. In some cases, they are also sources of factual information. Come and get a fuller understanding of what these tools are, how they work, and how they may be used to get students engaged in learning. Historical Statistics of the United States

This rich database is not just for historians! The material presented spans the life of the country from its colonial beginnings to the end of the 20th Century. In addition to political, demographic and social data, there is a wealth of business and economic data. There is even a section on natural resources and the environment.
